Prices in South African rand, no VAT — Iron Scribe is not a VAT vendor. Payment handled by PayFast.
Stop paying and you keep the software. If your subscription lapses, Iron Scribe goes on opening, writing, exporting and printing exactly as before. What stops is cloud backup and new versions. You are subscribing to backup and updates, never to permission to open your own book.
The trial
Twenty-one days. No card.
The trial is the whole program with nothing switched off, for twenty-one days. We ask for an email address so the licence has somewhere to go. We do not ask for a card, and nothing starts charging you when the trial ends — it simply stops backing up and updating, and you decide from there.
Windows 10 and 11, 64-bit or 32-bit. Roughly 60 MB.
Questions people actually ask
Before you buy
Is there a Mac version?
No, and none is planned. Iron Scribe is a Windows program. If you write on a Mac, this is not for you, and we would rather say so here than take your money first.
What happens to my book if I cancel?
Nothing. Your manuscript is a file on your own disk and the program goes on opening it. Cloud backup and updates stop. Backups already on our server are kept for ninety days after cancellation so you can pull them down, then deleted.
Does the writing assistant cost extra?
Iron Scribe does not resell anybody's AI. You connect the provider you already have an account with, using your own key, and you pay them directly for what you use. If you never turn it on, it costs you nothing.
Three devices — what counts as one?
A machine. A desktop at home and a laptop at work is two, with one spare for when a machine is replaced. If you run out, write to us and we will clear the old one.
Can I write more than one book?
Yes. There is no limit on books, series, chapters, characters or words, and there never will be. Charging by the book would be charging you for writing, which is the opposite of the point.
Do I need to be online?
Only for backup, updates and the first activation. The program checks its licence when it can and carries on for two days without a connection, so writing on a train is writing on a train.
